He let the sunlight touch you.
He let the sunlight touch you.
When you were born, a ray of light descended to earth from His sure hands.
As a young girl, you brought that light and joy into your parents' lives.
As a young woman, you brought sunlight
Into the lives of those you came in contact with.
You cared for people as you would your own child.
You picked us up when we needed support,
Brought us down when we needed grounding.
You guided those around you
With a surefootedness of someone
Who dared to tread
Where even God sometimes feared to step.
You weren't afraid to lead an army on to greater things.
Like young Joan of Arc,
Such as you inspired people
With your bold spirit
Your pioneering spirit.
But like Joan of Arc,
With the honey-blond hair
The air... of confidence
The bold spirit
Your pioneering spirit
It ended too soon for you.
I find myself asking why.
Why?
Why would He take someone so young?
Somone so full of life and hope for the future?
It's a question that plagues everyone
Eating away at all the lives you touched.
One can only wonder and guess.
We'll never know the answer.
And we'll be all the emptier for our loss of you.
One thing is for certain.
You, so full of grace and life
You, who carried the qualities we could only wish to have
He deemed you worthy.
He blessed you
He d let the sunlight touch you.
